Gigavolt is an orchestra from Aalborg, Denmark. It's members are Johan Volt Heinsen and Christopher Aaby Volt. Sometimes friends help them out. They both play instruments, their computers and occasionally sing. They like pop-melodies, ambient noise, folk guitars, dinosaurs and a good night's sleep. They dislike empires, practicing, work and vampires.
These past days we've been busy making Hidden Kingdom CDRs. They are extremely limited, so if you want one you should contact johanheinsen(at)gmail.com immediately... Then we'll work something out!

Hi there! We made a new record and it will be released on January 13th - that is next wednesday. It's a record full of acoustic guitars and with a very pronounced folkish touch. It features some of our friends and fellow dromists such as Frederik Højlund (Randcore) and Rasmus Aaen (Disappearer). We have not yet decided on a title, but a physical release on cd-r is also in the works, which will feature artwork by Johan. More news on all of that later. Also we will soon be releasing yet another record of older material that has been resting in a sacred vault / dusty harddrive for way too long, but since that still needs some finishing touches it is too early to tell when it will see the light of day.

Another new track. Heavy on the strumming and a touch of percussion. We're both in the turbulent process of moving and Christopher just went on his first business-trip (like a boss) while I, Johan, is writing articles about sailors and politics. In other words we are quite busy, but hope to finish our new epic record before the end of the year. Fingers crossed.

Earlier this year we did some improvisations that are gonna be featured as part of an upcoming release. They mix instrumental folk with loose noise-rock. Frederik Højlund features on acoustic guitar. We will post more of this stuff in the coming weeks, but don't expect our next album to be in such a free spirit. Instead, expect all kinds of hazy goodness and scary detours. It will feature songs about wolves, noise and nature as an idea of repetition always displacing itself.

Ghost#011: Gigavolt - Hidden Kingdom

DOWNLOADHidden Kingdom is a record about everyday life, its magic and its inherent exceptions. It focuses on acoustic guitar and voice. All tracks on 'Hidden Kingdom' were recorded, mixed and mastered by Gigavolt. The recordings took place from june till december 2009. 'Ancestral Mouth' and 'Secret Nest' feature Rasmus Aaen on upright and electric bass. The 'Drome Breather' tracks were recorded live during a short break while creating the ghostdrome. They all feature Frederik Højlund on acoustic guitar. The artwork was created by Gigavolt as well, and features eight drawings about symmetry and the way in which mirroring can turn something familiar into something else entirely.
